For 24 years, our local music community has been polled to discover which performers in Asbury Park have been outstanding in a broad variety of categories and genres. The awards show features the top acts, artists, singers-songwriters, musical and creative talent that Asbury Park and the Jersey Shore have to offer.
The Asbury Music Awards was created to recognize local Jersey Shore original acts. It has evolved over the years and continues to grow to be an awards program that represents original music throughout the state of New Jersey. Originally known as The Golden T-Bird Awards, the Asbury Music Awards premiered in Asbury Park in 1993.
An annual music scene staple, the 1st Asbury Music Awards [Golden T-Bird Awards] was held at the former T-Birds Cafe on Main Street in Asbury Park, NJ. Scott Stamper of The Saint in Asbury Park, and Peter Mantas, formerly of The Saint, now with Langosta Lounge and Asbury Park Yacht Club, founded and originally created the Asbury Music Awards as a response to the area's hardworking musicians, singers and songwriters, and the longstanding, ever-evolving original music scene in Asbury Park, and beyond.
Asbury Park's most rock 'n roll night out, a regular haunt of well known faces and where to see the future next big things in advance. Where glitz and rock 'n roll and behind the scenes heroes of today and yesterday meet, an awards ceremony, a pageant, a mad carnival starring who's who and on the rise in rock 'n roll in Asbury Park and at the Jersey Shore.
Area clubs, music-centric businesses, record stores, radio stations, newspapers and time tested music enthusiasts are all represented in the voting process. Ballots are painstakingly counted, votes are tallied, and the winners are revealed for the first time at the Asbury Music Awards ceremony.
A variety of local music alumni, past award recipients, sponsors, and industry professionals are invited by the panel to present awards each year. The Asbury Music Awards, celebrating a milestone 24-year anniversary, will prove to be our biggest and best event yet, celebrating local musicians, singers/songwriters and our artistic community in support of live original music and the imaginative forces that drives creative Asbury Park and the Jersey. Shore.

The founder of the Asbury Music Awards says he is determined to make the AMAs the best they can be, and understands why the community has championed and contributed to making this annual celebration of our creative community a jubilant and growing success for more than two decades.

The Asbury Music Awards, presented each year by The Saint and Asbury Music Company, originally known as The Golden T-Bird Awards, premiered in Asbury Park in 1993. An annual music scene staple, the first Asbury Music Awards was held at the former T-Birds Cafe on Main Street in Asbury Park, NJ, Scott Stamper, former booking agent and promoter at T-Birds, moved on to be founder / owner and talent buyer of The Saint in Asbury Park, a few doors down from T-Birds Cafe.
Scott Stamper and Petey Mantas originally designed the Asbury Music Awards in 1993 as a response to the Asbury Park's hardworking musicians, singers and songwriters, and the long standing, ever-evolving Live Original Music scene in Asbury Park, NJ. The Asbury Music Awards has evolved over the years and continues to grow to be an awards program that represents original music throughout the state of New Jersey.
Originally known as The Golden T-Bird Awards, the ASBURY MUSIC AWARDS premiered in Asbury Park in 1993. In addition to the many and diverse individual awards, the Asbury Music Awards recognizes and honors members of our musical and creative community through the Living Legend Award, Behind the Scenes Lifetime Achievement Award, and Best Thing to Happen. The Asbury Music Awards, for twenty years, has recognized and continues to celebrate the many contributions by members of Asbury Park's musical and creative community.
Singers-songwriters, musicians, artists, painters, poets, promoters, sound technicians, lighting directors, writers, photo-journalists, rock photographers, venue owners, and more, from live original music, the arts and pop culture, to behind the scenes heroes, all are represented. Our creative community is strong and one-of-a-kind, no one is left out, or excluded.
Each year, the Asbury Music Awards brings the musical and creative community together, shining a beacon of light on Asbury Park and New Jersey's brightest stars, recognizing as many genres, sounds and artistic expressions that can possibly be represented, in one celebratory night. In addition to the recognition the Asbury Music Awards provides the creative community, the shows have proven to be a great opportunity for fans, artists, media, promoters, local venues and businesses, and the music community on a whole, to experience the incredibly diverse talent in a wide variety of musical genres, in one special evening of music and recognition.
The 24th Annual Asbury Music Awards, presented by the Asbury Music Company and landmark nightclub, The Saint, Home of Live Original Music in New Jersey and the longest consecutively running music venue in Asbury Park's history, will be held on Thursday, December 8th at The Legendary Stone Pony, the Jersey Shore's most rock 'n roll institution on the East Coast, located at 913 Ocean Ave., in Asbury Park, New Jersey.
